About

My name is Cecily and I’m the owner and chef of Little Sparrow, which was founded after I was furloughed due to Covid-19. Little Sparrow was born out of the idea to share my seasonable wonton creations while contributing to charitable organizations.

A little about me: I was born in Guangzhou and moved to the states when I was 5 years old. Before moving to LA, I grew up in Scranton, PA (yes, that one!). Growing up in a small town, our family didn’t have any authentic Chinese restaurants to dine out at so I grew up learning to cook my family’s recipes at home. My influences include homestyle Cantonese cuisine, common & uncommon Chinese ingredients, and the local California produce.

I have a BA in Communications from UCSD and worked in the entertainment industry for over 7 years before pursuing a career in food. I completed the Culinary Arts program at Los Angeles Trade Tech while working to get my foot in the door. Most recently, I was the Pastry Sous Chef at Osteria Mozza (Michelin star 2019), Pizzeria Mozza & chi Spacca. I’m thrilled to be sharing my childhood flavors and unique creations with you all!
